This has been our Youth Exchange!
A lot of fun, a mixture of languages, translation, discussion, culture, eating and celebrating together, skating, skating, skating, constructing, desconstructing, meeting many nice and interesting people, getting to know other worlds and lives …….
We will keep updating the website with more pictures and reports. Here is a first preview: http://www.rolling-berlin.com/youth-project/our-week/
The idea: Young skaters from Bulgaria, France, Germany and the Netherlands will meet for a whole week to work, skate and discuss together. They will take care of sports equipments and will have seminars about rollerblading and think about what we can do for rollerblading in the future. Also there will be more cultural and social activities to get to know each other’s culture and learn to accept each other as citizens of the European Union. Visit the EU’s European youth portal to learn more about your perspectives and possibilities in Europe.
Our youth exchange “Skaters for Europe” has been granted financial funding by the EU.

Objectives and contents of the youth exchange
The youth exchange will bring together young people from different European countries, to build and strengthen tolerance, respect and sense of solidarity by common cultural, social, sportive and technical activities. For many of the participants, this will probably be the first opportunity to live and work together with other young people from diverse parts of Europe for one week.
Berlin is one of the European cities where history, culture and politics of Europe can be felt and understood in many places of the city. Berlin offers various opportunities for political and historic education (Reichstag, embassies, museums, synagogue). Berlin is also a place where multicultural coexistance is part of everyday life – a model for Europe which will benefit the participants thoughout their lives. Furthermore, within the framework of “Skaters for Europe” we offer precise information about European citizenship and about opportunities to get involved with European Voluntary Service.
Sports will be another focus of our youth exchange. We will be doing sports (skating) together and visit the German Masterships Inline Halfpipe, there will be seminars and discussions about sports related topics, and by working together building up sports equipment, the young people can gain experience and learn new skills, without feeling like being in school. The same is probably true for language skills, which will develop of their own volition in an international project.
About the organizer
Skate Association Germany e.V. is a beneficial non-profit organization. Since 2004, we have been organizing trainings, workshops and competitions like the German Masterships Inline Halfpipe. Sports is a way to offer new perspectives especially for young people with problems and disadvantatges in school, financially or in their social abilities. Sports can help these young people to develop their potential and to build up self-esteem and a positive long-term personal development. The contact with young people from other countries also offers the opportunity to remove national thinking and to develop a European consciousness as a citizen of the European Union.
Costs, funding and compulsory attendance
Our youth exchange has been granted financial fundings by the EU in the framework of “Youth for Europe”. This offers young people the opportunity to take part in the youth exchange free of charge. In return, every participant has to obligate, to take part in all events each day of the youth exchange. Minors will also have to bring a declaration of consent (permission) signed by their parents.
Due to the limited number of participants (there will be small groups of 4 – 8 persons for each country) we kindly ask for early registration or inquiry. If you are interested in the youth exchange, please contact a member of our staff who will be glad to answer your questions. A detailed schedule and information material will be handed out in time before the event.
